Cudjoe Key Transfer Station New Storage Building

Background
The Monroe County Board of County Commissioners is issuing a Request for Proposals (RFP) for the construction of a new storage building at the Cudjoe Key Transfer Station.
The project aims to enhance the facilities at the transfer station, which serves the local community by providing waste management services.
The goal is to construct a pre-engineered metal building that will be used for vehicle storage, thereby improving operational efficiency and safety.

Work Details
The contractor is required to provide a complete job as outlined in the drawings and specifications included in the bid package. This includes:
1. Construction of a one-story, 2,400 square foot pre-engineered metal building (PEMB) for vehicle storage, featuring a concrete slab floor supported by concrete piles and grade beams.
2. Demolition of existing structures, pavement, and utilities as indicated in the attached drawings.
3. Site improvements including site regrading, new electrical conduit connections, new water service connections, construction of retaining walls, asphalt paving for driveways and parking spaces, heavy-duty concrete pavement apron, and a concrete sidewalk.
4. Ensuring jobsite safety during construction while accommodating public access to the transfer station from Monday to Saturday between 8:00 AM and 3:30 PM.
5. The contractor will be allowed to dump scrap materials and debris at the transfer station at no cost but must provide weigh tickets for each load.

Period of Performance
The anticipated timeline for this project includes:
- Proposal Due Date: April 21, 2026
- BOCC Award Date (Anticipated): May 20, 2026
- Notice to Proceed & Pre-Construction Meeting (Anticipated): June 1, 2026
- Substantial Completion (Anticipated): September 29, 2026.

Place of Performance
The work will be performed at the Cudjoe Key Transfer Station located at 740 Blimp Road, Cudjoe Key, Florida 33042.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must possess all necessary licenses required to perform work in Monroe County and submit copies prior to issuance of the Notice to Proceed.
Additionally, bidders are required to provide a certified copy of their performance bond and proof of insurance as specified in the contract documents.
