Description

The Department of Health's, Bureau of Public Health Laboratories (BPHL) has a need to purchase assay kits compatible with the Departments Cepheid GeneXpert system and test algorithm. Cepheid Cat. No. GMTB/RIF-US-10 is used to test for rapid detection of Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex and Rifampin resistance. This is a semi-quantitative nested real-time PCR used for the detection of Mycobacterium Tuberculosis complex DNA in sputum samples and the detection of Rifampin resistance associated mutations of the rpoB gene in samples from patients at risk for rifampin resistance.

In accordance with 60A-1.045 Florida Administrative Code, the Department of Health's BPHL requests authorization to purchase, as a single source, Cepheid Xpert GMTB/RIF-US-10 Assay kits.

Background
The Florida Department of Health's Bureau of Public Health Laboratories (BPHL) is seeking to purchase assay kits that are compatible with their Cepheid GeneXpert system and test algorithm. The goal of this contract is to facilitate rapid detection of Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex and Rifampin resistance, which is critical for public health management.

Work Details
The contract involves the procurement of Cepheid Cat. No. GMTB/RIF-US-10 assay kits, which are used for the semi-quantitative nested real-time PCR detection of Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex DNA in sputum samples. These kits also detect Rifampin resistance-associated mutations of the rpoB gene in patients at risk for rifampin resistance. The kits are the only ones compatible with the Cepheid GeneXpert system utilized by BPHL.

Period of Performance
The contract will be performed over a period of 3 years.

Place of Performance
The products will be delivered to the Florida Department of Health's Bureau of Public Health Laboratories located at 4052 Bald Cypress Way, Bin B07, Tallahassee, FL 32399.
