Description

Background
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is seeking competitive pricing for the procurement of prescribed burning services on conservation lands on the Apalachicola River Wildlife and Environmental Area in FWC's Northwest Region. The FWC administers six major programs including habitat and species conservation, freshwater fisheries management, law enforcement, marine fisheries management, hunting and game management, and fish and wildlife research.

Work Details
Prescribed burning is used to maintain and restore native plant species composition and structure. The FWC’s goals are to increase biological diversity, enhance wildlife habitat, mimic natural processes, and reduce excessive fuel loads.
The project area/site location includes the Apalachicola River WEA located in Franklin and Gulf Counties between Port St. Joe and East Point. The contractor will be provided a list of priority burn units upon issuance of the purchase order. Prescribed burning can occur in any month during the life of the contract with growing season (April – September) being priority. The actual dates will be based on weather conditions and fuel conditions as written in the burn plan and agreed to by the FWC Project Manager.

Period of Performance
The contract will be effective for one year upon issuance of Purchase Order. The Commission has the option to renew this Contract on a yearly basis for a period up to three years after the initial Contract period upon the same terms and conditions contained herein.

Place of Performance
Apalachicola River Wildlife and Environmental Area (ARWEA) in Franklin and Gulf Counties between Port St. Joe and East Point.
