25-032 Palafox Pier Fountain Repair

Background
The City of Pensacola, through its Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA), is seeking bids for the repair of the Palafox Pier Fountain. The project aims to enhance the fountain's functionality and safety by relocating utilities and mechanical components above ground, filling in an existing underground mechanical vault, and constructing a new concrete pad for fountain components. This initiative aligns with the city's mission to maintain and improve public spaces.

Work Details
The scope of work includes:
1. Acquiring all required permits/approvals.
2. Identifying and removing existing utilities in the underground mechanical vault, including pipes, wires, and water lines.
3. Rerouting utilities above ground to be accessed by new mechanical components on a concrete slab.
4. Filling in the utility box with appropriate dirt material and compacting it to create a stable base for the new concrete pad.
5. Setting up concrete framework, pouring, leveling, and allowing curing time for the concrete pad.
6. Reinstalling utilities and installing new pumps on top of the cured concrete pad.
7. Designing and constructing a protective fence around the concrete slab with a double gate for maintenance access.
8. Installing sod to cover any exposed ground after completion.

Period of Performance
The contractor is expected to commence work within ten (10) consecutive calendar days after notification from the City of Pensacola and complete all work within 180 calendar days.

Place of Performance
The contract will be performed at Palafox Pier Fountain located at 196 North Palafox Street, Pensacola, Florida.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must possess a Florida Licensed General Contractor or Florida Licensed Underground Utilities Contractor certification at the time of bid submission. They must also comply with various certifications including Drug-Free Workplace Certificate and Erosion and Sedimentation Compliance Certification. Additionally, bidders are required to provide affidavits regarding coercion for labor services as per Florida Statute.
