2024 2025 Pine Log State Forest Cypress Boardwalk Replacement

Background
The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS), specifically the Florida Forest Service (FFS), is seeking competitive bids for the complete reconstruction of an existing 605-foot boardwalk within Pine Log State Forest located in Ebro, Florida.

The project aims to restore a boardwalk that currently meanders through a cypress pond but is in disrepair and unusable. This solicitation is conducted under the guidelines of Chapters 255 and 287 of the Florida Statutes and Rule 60D-5 of the Florida Administrative Code.

Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for demolishing and reconstructing the existing boardwalk. The work will be divided into three phases:

1. **Demolition Phase**:
- Remove and dispose of the existing boardwalk structure.
- Transport and haul debris to designated disposal areas.

2. **Construction Phase**:
- Construct a new boardwalk measuring 5 feet wide by 605 feet long.
- Use 10-inch diameter treated wood piles with .80 CCA treatment, spaced 10 feet on center.
- Install 8x8-inch rough-sawn headers and 3x12-inch rough-sawn stringers, spaced 24 inches on center.
- Apply 2x8-inch pressure-treated lumber decking secured with stainless steel screws, along with MSTA flat straps and hurricane straps for stability.

3. **Handrail Installation Phase**:
- Install a handrail system using 4x6-inch rough-sawn posts spaced 5 feet on center, with three runs of 2x6-inch pressure-treated lumber for the handrail and a top cap made from 2x8-inch pressure-treated lumber. All connections must use hot-dip galvanized hardware.

Period of Performance
The construction work is expected to be substantially completed by July 18, 2025, with final billing due by the last week in August 2025.

The contract work will be performed at Pine Log State Forest located in Ebro, Florida.
