Sussex County Courthouse Juror Entrance Enclosure

Background
The State of Delaware, through the Office of Management and Budget and the Division of Facilities Management, is seeking bids for the construction of a weather-protected structure at the Sussex County Courthouse. This project aims to enhance the juror entrance area by providing shelter for approximately fifty individuals waiting outside, ensuring their comfort and safety during inclement weather. The structure will be designed to meet ADA accessibility standards.

Work Details
The project involves the construction of a covered waiting area for jurors at the existing exterior juror’s entrance on the south side of the courthouse. Key features include:
- A weather-protected structure that accommodates approximately fifty (50) people.
- Adequate shade and ventilation for hot weather, along with wind and rain protection for cold weather.
- Installation of a ceiling fan to promote air circulation.
- Compliance with ADA accessibility standards.
- Retention of existing ramp and steps, with new handrails and guardrails required.

Period of Performance
The contract work is expected to commence upon award and must be completed by June 12, 2025.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must attend a mandatory pre-bid meeting on May 19, 2025, at 10:00 AM at the Sussex Maintenance Shop in Georgetown, DE. Bids must include a bid security equivalent to ten percent (10%) of the bid amount and all additive alternates. The successful bidder will be required to post a performance bond and payment bond equal to 100% of the contract price upon execution.
