Description

The Town of Essex Ad Hoc Committee Thatchbed is requesting bids from qualified companies who can carry out a complex scope of work involving dredging the river bottom around Essex Harbour and using the dredge spoils to fill large synthetic tubes (Envirotubes) to be placed adjacent to the Harbor around a tidal wetland (Thatchbed Island) to accomplish both the beneficial use of clean dredge spoils and the restoration of degraded wetland habitats.
Background
The Town of Essex Ad Hoc Committee – Thatchbed is seeking bids from qualified companies to undertake a complex project aimed at restoring degraded wetland habitats around Thatchbed Island.

The project involves dredging the river bottom around Essex Harbour and utilizing the dredge spoils for environmental restoration purposes.

Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for dredging the river bottom in Essex Harbour.

The dredged materials will be used to fill large synthetic tubes known as Envirotubes. These tubes will then be placed adjacent to the Harbor around Thatchbed Island, facilitating the beneficial use of clean dredge spoils and the restoration of tidal wetland habitats.
