Polson Middle School Equipment & Materials Pre-Purchase

Background
The Polson Middle School HVAC Modernization, Power Upgrades, and Auditorium Renovation Project is being managed by Gilbane Building Company. The project aims to modernize the school's HVAC systems, upgrade power facilities, and renovate the auditorium to enhance the educational environment. This contract specifically involves the pre-purchase of equipment and materials necessary for these upgrades.

Work Details
The work includes a 'furnish-only' package for new 4000A switchgear and a new 1500KW generator. The equipment will be installed by others as part of the overall modernization project.

The balance of work includes:
- Renovation of the auditorium and gymnasium
- Power upgrades to existing electrical service
- Installation of a new generator
- HVAC upgrades

Specific tasks include:
- Abatement of ACM flooring in the auditorium
- Installation of a new RTU (replacement)
- Lighting, ceilings, flooring, seating, theatrical A/V and lighting improvements
- Gymnasium renovations including two new AHUs and ductwork
- Power upgrades involving a new generator and switchgear
- HVAC scope including six new RTUs serving various spaces
- Replacement furnaces and dampers in existing penthouses
- VRF cassette systems for classrooms
- Structural support for HVAC equipment.

Period of Performance
The work is scheduled to occur in late winter/early spring of 2026 with specific tasks such as VRF rough-in and power rough-in taking place during this timeframe.

Place of Performance
The contract will be performed at Polson Middle School located at 208 New London Turnpike, Glastonbury CT 06033.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders whose bids are estimated to exceed $1,000,000 must be prequalified with the State of Connecticut Department of Administrative Services (DAS). All subcontractors with contracts over $1,000,000 must also be prequalified. Prevailing wage rates apply as per Connecticut General Statutes. Each bid must include a bid security in the form of a Bid Bond amounting to at least 10% of the total base bid.
