Description
Background
The Capitol Region Education Council (CREC) is seeking qualified contractors to provide Physical Activity and Nutrition Programming resources for afterschool program providers supporting students in low-income and high-need communities. This initiative aims to fund one or more vendors to design and deliver program materials (kits) focused on recreational activity and cooking/nutrition education for K–12 afterschool environments.
CREC, established in 1966, serves thirty-five member public school districts in north central Connecticut and is dedicated to improving the quality of public education through cooperative programs.
Work Details
Contractors are required to design, procure, and deliver up to 75 Recreation and Cooking Club Kits. Approximately 40 kits must be tailored for elementary school students (grades K–5), while about 35 kits should be designed for middle school (grades 6–8) and high school (grades 9–12). The kits must promote physical activity, healthy eating habits, and social-emotional development.
All materials must be non-toxic, food-safe, age-appropriate, and clearly identify allergens. The contractor must ensure that all kits meet K–12 school safety standards, include clear adult supervision requirements, and provide documentation of the number of kits produced and distributed.
Period of Performance
The anticipated contract execution date is May 30, 2026, with all kits required to be delivered by July 30, 2026.
Place of Performance
The services will be performed in Connecticut for afterschool programs serving K–12 students.
Bidder Requirements
Vendors must comply with all applicable insurance requirements, background checks, and youth program safety requirements as outlined in the solicitation. Additionally, vendors are encouraged to make good faith efforts to employ minority business enterprises as subcontractors.
