Newfield Boat Ramp Construction

Background
The City of Bridgeport is seeking bids for the construction of the Newfield Boat Ramp, which is currently in disrepair. The project aims to reconstruct the boat ramp located at 421 Seaview Avenue, ensuring it meets municipal, state, and federal standards. The goal is to provide a fully functional and safe boat ramp for public use.

Work Details
The work includes the complete reconstruction of the Newfield Boat Ramp, which involves:

1) Removal of existing ramp and associated support structures, including support floats and excavation to remove sediment, stone block wall, and pavement for upland disposal.

2) Construction of a new 41' x 88' boat ramp installed to four feet mean low water (-7.6' NAVD88).

3) Activities include grading for geotextile fabric and crushed stone base; installation of a concrete headwall; driving a 64 linear foot sheet pile wall on the western edge; installation of pre-cast concrete planks and curbing; constructing a stone revetment at a slope of 3:1 along the western edge; placing five 10'x20' floats supported by five 1' piles attached via a transition plate from an existing concrete landing.

Period of Performance
The contract work is expected to commence upon issuance of the Notice to Proceed and must be completed within a specified timeframe as outlined in the contract documents.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must be licensed in the State of Connecticut. A ten percent bid bond or certified check is required for bids over $100,000. Successful bidders must provide payment and performance bonds equal to the contract price if it exceeds $100,000. Contractors must have valid SAM, DUNS, CT, and Federal Tax ID numbers prior to commencing work.
