New Commissary Building

Background
The University of Connecticut is issuing this Request for Qualifications (RFQ) to solicit experienced architectural design firms. The goal is to provide architectural design services for the programming confirmation, planning, design, and engineering of a new commissary building on the University’s Storrs Campus. This project aims to replace the existing commissary facility with a new building.

Work Details
The new commissary building will be located at W-Lot and will have an approximate size of 28,800 gross square feet. The program elements to be included in the design are:

- Central kitchen
- Bulk freezers
- Bulk refrigeration
- Bulk dry storage
- Loading docks
- Shipping/receiving areas
- Husky Harvest Food Pantry
- Coffee production area
- Test kitchen
- Bakery sales section
- Dish room/pot wash area
- Offices
- Conference room
- Laundry facilities
- Various support spaces such as locker rooms, restrooms, elevators, stairs, janitorial areas, MEP tele/data rooms, and an equipment maintenance room.

Period of Performance
The contract work is expected to commence on March 28, 2025 and conclude by April 29, 2025.

Place of Performance
The contract will be performed at the University of Connecticut's Storrs Campus.
