Weed Abatement Services

Background
The County of Santa Clara is seeking proposals from qualified vendors to provide weed, brush, and debris abatement services under the County’s Weed Abatement Program. This initiative aims to address public nuisance conditions declared by the Board of Supervisors to enhance fire prevention efforts.

The County encompasses a diverse area with a significant population and various urban and rural landscapes, necessitating effective management of vegetation to mitigate fire hazards.

Work Details
The successful contractors will provide comprehensive countywide Weed Abatement Services, which include:
- Collection and disposal of weeds, brush, and combustible debris from properties identified as public nuisances.
- The work will be divided into four zones: North Zone (Palo Alto, Los Altos), West Zone (Los Gatos, Saratoga), East Zone (San José), and South Zone (Morgan Hill, Gilroy).
- Methods of work include discing, mowing, hand removal, or other approved techniques to reduce flammability.
- Contractors must furnish all necessary equipment and tools for the job without additional charges to the County.
- The contractor is responsible for maintaining safety measures and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations during operations.

Period of Performance
The contract is set to commence on March 1, 2025, and will run through February 28, 2028. There is an option for two additional one-year extensions until February 28, 2030.

Place of Performance
The services will be performed throughout Santa Clara County, specifically in designated zones that include various cities such as Palo Alto, Los Altos, San José, Morgan Hill, Gilroy, and surrounding unincorporated areas.
