[UPCOMING: Spring 2026] RFP - 511 Website Design, Development, Operations, Maintenance, and Hosting Support Services

Background
The Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) is seeking to hire a consultant or consultant team to assist with the design, development, operations, maintenance, enhancement, and hosting of the 511.org website.

The MTC 511 traveler information program serves as a multi-platform resource for Bay Area travelers, providing real-time information on road conditions, transit services, bike resources, and carpool options. The program has evolved since its inception in 2002 and aims to be a critical resource during emergencies and major events. A redesigned 511.org website is expected to launch in spring 2026.

Work Details
The contract includes the following services:
- Design and development of the 511.org website;
- Operations and maintenance of the website;
- Enhancement of existing features;
- Hosting support services;
- Communications and brand management services.

Key aspects of the web infrastructure include managed hosting on Pantheon for static elements built in Drupal, transitioning Google map integration to OpenStreetMap, and managing real-time elements through a customized Tyk API Gateway as a managed service.

Period of Performance
The project is expected to begin on September 1, 2026, and be completed by June 30, 2026. The contract may be extended for up to four additional years at MTC's discretion.

Place of Performance
The contract will be performed primarily in the Bay Area, California.
