SB Minor B - Install Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon in El Dorado County

Background
The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is issuing this solicitation for the installation of a Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon (RRFB) in El Dorado County. The project aims to enhance pedestrian and cyclist safety at an unmarked crossing near Tahoma, specifically at 0.5 miles north of Glenridge Parkway on State Route 89. This initiative aligns with Caltrans' mission to improve lives and communities through transportation.

Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for the following tasks:
1. Installation of a new pedestrian crosswalk with an Activated Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon (RRFB).
2. Implementation of ADA improvements to ensure accessibility.
3. Excavation work up to five feet below ground surface, particularly near a stream environment zone, requiring a dewatering plan prior to excavation.
4. Compliance with all standard conditions of approval as outlined by the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA).
5. Coordination with TRPA for pre-grading inspections and submission of construction schedules.
6. Removal of waste material during saw-cutting operations using approved methods.

Period of Performance
The contract work is expected to be completed within 25 working days from the start date, which will be determined upon contract award.

Place of Performance
The work will be performed in El Dorado County, specifically along State Route 89 near Tahoma.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must meet the following requirements:
1. Be a certified Small Business under Section 2-1.05 at the time of bid submission and contract award.
2. Have either a Class A license or an applicable Class C license for contracting work.
3. Although there is no established DVBE contract goal, bidders are encouraged to seek DVBE participation in their proposals.
