GO-Biz is seeking an organization to develop an export training program focused on the Safety and Security sector in Australia and Canada and to coordinate with the U.S. Commercial Service to ensure the training aligns with subsequent market briefings and virtual pitch sessions that will be conducted by the U.S. Commercial Service.
Background
The Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz) is seeking an organization to develop an export training program focused on the Safety and Security sector in Australia and Canada.
GO-Biz serves as California's leader for job growth, economic development, and business assistance efforts.
The goal of this contract is to equip California businesses with comprehensive knowledge of the Australian and Canadian safety and security markets, ensuring they understand how to export their products or services effectively.

Work Details
The selected organization will be responsible for:
1. Developing a tailored export training program that includes:
- Market Selection: Assessing the viability of the Canadian and Australian markets for exports.
- Compliance: Ensuring adherence to U.S., Australian, and Canadian trade requirements, including U.S. Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
- Distribution Channels: Identifying and establishing international sales channels.
- Pricing Strategy: Developing competitive pricing strategies specific to these markets.
- Logistics and Customs: Addressing international shipping and customs procedures.
- Free Trade Agreements: Leveraging USMCA (Canada) and USFTA (Australia).
- Financing: Accessing export financing options such as EXIM Credit Insurance.
- Government Support Programs: Utilizing resources from GO-Biz STEP and the U.S. Commercial Service (CS).
- Export Plan Development: Tailoring export plans to meet individual business needs.
- Pitch Refinement: Preparing companies to pitch their products/services to potential customers including governments, NGOs, and private sector organizations.
2. Conducting statewide outreach to identify and enroll eligible California-based companies in the Safety and Security sector.
3. Providing a minimum of two hours of one-on-one coaching for each participating company focused on market entry strategies.
4. Developing assessments to measure program success through pre- and post-training evaluations.

Period of Performance
The contract period is from January 1, 2025, to June 30, 2025, with training completion by May 30, 2025.
Market briefings and pitch sessions will occur between July 1, 2025, and January 30, 2026.

Place of Performance
The training will be delivered virtually to ensure accessibility for small businesses across California.
