Background
The City of Palo Alto's Office of Transportation is seeking to procure approximately 105 network switches to replace aging equipment at the City’s signalized intersections. The existing switches are around twelve years old and have reached the end of their recommended service life. This replacement is crucial for maintaining secure and stable communications between field devices and the traffic management center, supporting real-time operations, and ensuring compatibility with current and emerging Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) technologies.
The procurement process is funded through regional grant funding from Santa Clara County's Measure B - Local Streets and Roads program.
Work Details
The contract involves the purchase, delivery, configuration, and installation of:
1. 105 Ethernet Edge Switches including power supplies, meeting strict ISO standards (ISO 45001:2018, 9001:2015, 14001:2015, ISO/IEC 27001:2013).
2. 4 Core Switches that are UL listed and rack-mounted for harsh environments.
3. 212 Fiber Transceivers compatible with the edge and core switches.
4. 3 alternate 400-Watt power supplies associated with the edge switches.
Each switch must include configuration support by the manufacturer and authorized local support staff, along with a limited lifetime warranty.
Period of Performance
The term of the pricing agreement shall be effective on the date of award and shall expire within 12 months, with a possibility of extension for one additional year.
Place of Performance
The work will be performed at various signalized intersections across Palo Alto as well as primary management centers including City Hall and the Municipal Service Center.
Bidder Requirements
Bidders must comply with insurance requirements including general liability, automobile liability, workers' compensation, and employer's liability insurance. The City of Palo Alto must be named as an additional insured on these policies.
