Background
The County of Imperial is seeking proposals for professional Security Guard Services for Out Of County Medical Facilities. The goal is to provide security for inmates temporarily housed in facilities outside of the Imperial County Jail, such as hospitals. The County requires trained and certified security guards, both armed and unarmed, available 24/7 throughout the year, including holidays.
Work Details
The contractor will provide armed security guards assigned to hospitals to guard arrestees and inmates. Specific duties include:
- Security guards must stay with the inmate at all times and prevent outside visitors.
- Guards will allow phone calls only with prior approval from the Imperial County Sheriff's Office (ICSO).
- No outside food or property is permitted for inmates.
- Guards must be trained and possess required equipment, with all equipment maintained in good condition.
- Guards will wear distinctive uniforms and maintain a professional appearance.
- A direct line of communication must be established between guards and their supervisors.
- Daily activity reports and incident reports must be maintained and made available to the Sheriff’s Office.
- Guards must respond to emergencies immediately and report on time for their shifts.

The contract will commence on January 1, 2026, for an initial period of three years, with options to extend for two additional two-year terms.

Services will be provided at various medical facilities in San Diego County including UC San Diego Medical Center, Jacobs Medical Center at UC San Diego Health, Select Specialty Hospital, Alvarado Hospital Medical Center, and Paradise Valley Hospital.
