Description

Background
The Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) is seeking qualified contractors to provide General Building and Construction Services. The goal of this contract is to support SMUD's mission by ensuring the availability of construction services necessary for various projects. The resulting contract(s) will be awarded based on the highest rated proposals, with an aggregate limit of $11,000,000 over a three-year period starting approximately May 1, 2026.

Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for providing supervision, labor, materials, equipment, and incidentals necessary for a variety of construction tasks. This includes tenant improvement projects, concrete parking repairs, installation of underground utilities, electrical work, demolition, soil remediation, hazardous materials abatement, structure repair and construction, HVAC work, replacement of end-of-life equipment and systems, fencing, roofing, landscaping, and miscellaneous tasks in support of ongoing facility operations.

Work will be conducted under individual Purchase Orders issued by SMUD.

Period of Performance
The contract will commence approximately on May 1, 2026, and will last for three years.

Place of Performance
The work will primarily take place within the jurisdiction of the Sacramento Municipal Utility District.

Bidder Requirements
Proposers must possess a current California Contractor’s License in either General Engineering (Class A) or General Building (Class B). Additionally, contractors must comply with prevailing wage requirements and be registered with the Department of Industrial Relations. Proposers are required to submit a Bid Bond equal to 10% of their proposal amount. Compliance with environmental procurement practices and safety program requirements is mandatory.

D. In accordance with Public Contract Code Section 3300 and Business and Professional Code Section 7059, SMUD has determined that the Contractor must possess a current California Contractor’s License in one of the following classes: A – General Engineering Contractor AND/OR B – General Building Contractor.

This is a master task contract that will include a variety of project types. The work may include, but is not limited to tenant improvements projects, A.C. and concrete parking repairs, installation of underground utilities and site work, electrical work, demolition, soil remediation, abatement of hazardous materials, structure repair and construction, HVAC work, replacement of end-of-life equipment and systems, fencing, roofing, landscaping, and miscellaneous work in support of ongoing Facility operations and design build tasks.
