Description

California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo and The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company (as the Design-Builder) are seeking qualified Trade Contractors, for the scopes shown below, who wish to prequalify for the Cal Pol Student Housing Program. 01A - Underground Utility Locating 01B - Temporary Fence 01E - Construction Traffic Control 01F - Construction Survey 01J - General Labor Services 01N - Site Equipment 01S - Temporary Security 31B - SWPPP SEE ATTACHED ANNOUNCEMENT FOR DETAILS OF HOW TO REQUEST THE RFQ DOCUMENTATION FROM WHITING-TURNER. RESPONSES ARE TO BE PROVIDED DIRECTLY TO WHITING-TURNER ONLY PROGRAM SCOPE: The 2035 Master Plan accounts for nearly 15,000 beds of student housing to accommodate the first and second year live-on requirements as well as maintaining housing for transfer and returning upper division students. To begin to meet this need, the University intends to design and construct three (3) new student housing projects at the current North Mountain and K-2 parking sites and renovate six (6) existing residential halls at the current South Maintain site. Presently, the intent is to use a phased approach for three new construction projects and six renovation projects over the course of the ten-year Program, starting design in January 2024. Projects would be completed strategically to reduce the impact to campus life and allow for students to continue with no interruption. Preliminary Design-Build cost estimates for the three new housing projects range from $175M to $275M each, with the six renovation projects ranging from $24M to $31M each.
Background
The California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo and The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company are seeking qualified Trade Contractors for the Cal Poly Student Housing Program. The program aims to accommodate the live-on requirements for students and maintain housing for transfer and returning upper division students. Work Details

Period of Performance
The program is expected to be implemented over a ten-year period starting from January 2024. The preliminary design-build cost estimates for the three new housing projects range from $175M to $275M each, with the six renovation projects ranging from $24M to $31M each.
