Background
The County of San Mateo, CA is seeking proposals from qualified vendors to provide relief mobile veterinary services. This initiative aims to ensure continuity of care for animals when the County's regular veterinarians are unavailable due to various operational constraints. Work Details
The contractor will provide the following services:
- General wellness examinations
- Vaccinations and preventive care
- Basic diagnostics (including physical exams and flea treatment)
- Treatment of minor illnesses and injuries
- Parasite prevention and treatment
- Humane triage and referral recommendations for advanced care
- Client education on animal health and nutrition
- Recordkeeping of services rendered
- Conducting veterinarian wellness clinics at various locations within San Mateo County.
Clinics will be scheduled at mutually agreed times and may take place at homeless shelters, encampments, outreach events, or other community sites. The contractor must maintain an active veterinary license in California and adhere to applicable laws and generally accepted veterinary medical standards.
Period of Performance
The contract is expected to commence after all parties have signed the agreement, with a term of three years.
Place of Performance
Services will be performed strictly within San Mateo County.
Bidder Requirements
Proposers must be represented by a veterinarian with an active California veterinary license and have been providing veterinary services for a minimum of two years. Proposers must also be registered with SAM (System for Award Management). Local businesses may receive preferential points during evaluation.
