Description
Background
The City of Davis is seeking proposals for environmental and engineering services related to the Old Davis Landfill, which has been closed since 1975. The landfill is suspected of discharging contaminants, including metals and volatile organic compounds (VOCs), into groundwater. Recent monitoring has indicated the presence of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in the groundwater.
The goal of this project is to fulfill regulatory obligations set by the Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board and to assess potential risks from landfill discharges.
Work Details
The selected firm will be responsible for:
- Conducting groundwater monitoring and reporting for two sample events annually at seven monitoring wells.
- Reviewing historical water quality data.
- Evaluating the feasibility of monitoring 12 private wells within 4,000 feet of the site.
- Creating an initial work plan to characterize groundwater contamination.
- Constructing additional monitoring wells.
- Conducting monitoring and reporting for newly constructed wells.
- Submitting updated work plans for future investigations.
- Ensuring compliance with all regulatory timelines.
Specific tasks include sampling groundwater during February and September, analyzing samples for various contaminants, uploading reports to GeoTracker, and maintaining communication with City staff and the Board.
Period of Performance
The contract will last up to three years with the possibility of two extensions for an additional two years each, totaling a maximum of seven years.
Place of Performance
The work will be performed at the Old Davis Landfill located at 24998 County Road 102, Davis, CA.
