ITB - JWJ Chemical Dosing System Project - CM & Inspection

Background
The Long Beach Utilities Department (LBUD) is seeking to engage a professional engineering consultant to provide construction management and inspection services for the JWJ Reservoir Chemical Dosing System Project.
This project aims to replace a temporary ammonia feed system with a permanent one, enhancing the water treatment process for the City of Long Beach Water System.

Work Details
The consultant will be responsible for:
- Protecting existing facilities, including pipes, valves, and fencing during construction.
- Maintaining influent water service to reservoirs throughout the construction period.
- Removing and disposing of an existing 7,500-gallon steel chemical storage tank and other associated equipment.
- Disconnecting existing chemical dosing pumps and associated tubing, demolishing existing asphalt pavement, electrical control panels, and conduits.
- Excavating a new vault and installing yard piping and electrical conduit.
- Installing a subsurface precast concrete vault and restoring adjacent asphalt pavement.
- Installing various components including in-line mixers, valves, drainage connections, chemical storage tanks, scrubber tanks, dosing pumps, instrumentation, power distribution panels, and lighting.
- Conducting pressure testing and chlorination of new work while restoring the site to preconstruction conditions.

Period of Performance
The anticipated period of performance is 12 months for construction starting in the first quarter of 2025, with an additional 60 calendar days allocated for inspection and administrative services.

Place of Performance
The project will be performed at the JWJ Reservoir located at 2200 E. University Drive, Compton, CA 90220.
