Description

A) Description Contractor will provide current RID and/or RID-NAD certified American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreters, on an as-needed basis, In-Person, to meet the needs of the employees of DOR staff to attend meetings, conferences and/or trainings. B) Location ASL interpreting services will be provided for the Los Angeles District. The locations included are listed in Exhibit F. C) Service Hours Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time (PT), holidays excluded unless otherwise stated in the Sign Language Interpreter service request. D) Special Provisions 1. Types of Services a. The Contractor will be required to provide one or more Sign Language Interpreter(s) to interpret for the DOR employees attending a variety of conferences, meetings and/or trainings. b. The Contractor may be requested to provide interpreting services to the DOR employees who receive training in a classroom setting. Within a classroom setting the Sign Language Interpreter(s) may interpret presentations, lectures, videotapes, small group discussions, etc. Greater Los Angeles District
Background
The California Department of Rehabilitation (DOR) is seeking bids for In-Person American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting Services for the Greater Los Angeles District (GLAD).
This contract aims to provide certified Sign Language Interpreters on an as-needed basis to support DOR staff in their mission to assist individuals with disabilities.
The solicitation includes provisions for Disabled Veterans Business Enterprise (DVBE) incentives.

Work Details
The contractor will provide certified ASL interpreters to facilitate communication for DOR staff during meetings, conferences, and training sessions.
Key requirements include:
- Interpreters must hold valid certifications from recognized bodies such as the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) or the National Association of the Deaf (NAD).
- Services are required Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., excluding holidays.
- The contractor must respond to service requests within 24 hours and provide replacements if necessary.
- A minimum of one interpreter is required for assignments up to 30 minutes; two interpreters are needed for assignments over 60 minutes.
- The contractor must maintain proof of certification and provide insurance documentation as specified in the solicitation.

Period of Performance
The contract is anticipated to commence on November 1, 2024, or upon approval, whichever is later, and will run through October 30, 2027.

Place of Performance
Services will be performed at various locations within the Greater Los Angeles District as specified in Exhibit F of the solicitation.
