Background
San Diego State University, acting for the Trustees of the California State University, is requesting proposals for the design and construction of the GMCS Elevator Modernization Project. The project aims to modernize the elevators in the Geology, Math, and Computer Science (GMCS) building, adhering to specific design objectives and minimum acceptable standards of construction as outlined in the RFP.
Work Details
The contractor will utilize a Turnkey Method to design and build the project. The scope includes:
1. Design and construction of elevator modernization;
2. Subcontracting electrical, fire alarm, and sprinkler work;
3. Collaboration with Johnson Controls Fire Protection LP for fire alarm work;
4. Compliance with maximum cost limits set at $575,000;
5. Adherence to prevailing wage rates as established by California law;

Proposers must qualify major subcontractors for trades exceeding 5% of the construction budget. Proposals must include a firm fixed-price basis valid for 90 days post-submission. Additionally, proposers are encouraged to achieve at least a 3% Disabled Veterans Business Enterprise (DVBE) participation rate to qualify for bonus points.
