EXT REC | CON26-0003 GGP Handball Resurfacing SFF

Background
The City and County of San Francisco, through its Recreation and Park Department, is seeking quotes for the resurfacing of handball courts located in Golden Gate Park. This project aims to enhance recreational facilities in the park, aligning with the department's mission to provide quality parks and recreational opportunities for the community.

Work Details
The contract involves resurfacing approximately 5,000 square feet of existing handball courts. The work includes:

1) Cleaning and leveling existing surfaces;
2) Installing new colored playing surfaces and lines according to American Sports Builders Association standards for a 40ft x 20ft court;
3) Demolishing and removing the existing asphalt court surface to a depth of 2.5 inches;
4) Recompacting the existing subbase to a 95% relative compaction;
5) Furnishing and compacting 3 inches of 3/8” asphalt over each handball court;
6) Allowing asphalt to cure for a minimum of two weeks before applying an acrylic playing surface;
7) Applying temporary painted lines during the curing period;
8) Using dark green color with white playing lines for the courts, with approved manufacturers including Plexipave, DecoTurf, or Nova Sport USA.

Additionally, contractors must perform a flood test in the presence of the SF Rec Park Project Manager prior to contract closeout.

Period of Performance
The project is expected to be completed within 60 calendar days from the notice to proceed until substantial completion, followed by an additional 15 calendar days until final completion.

Place of Performance
The work will be performed at the Golden Gate Park Handball Courts located at Nancy Pelosi Drive, San Francisco, CA 94122.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must possess a current California State License Board Class 'A' General Contractor’s License or 'C-12' Earthwork and Paving Contractor’s License. Contractors must have completed at least seven sport court repaving jobs within the past three years involving sport court acrylic surface installation. All bidders must be Certified City Suppliers and comply with local business enterprise participation requirements.
