The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is seeking contractors to provide door replacement services at maintenance stations in Monterey and San Luis Obispo County. Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for furnishing all labor, materials, parts, supplies, equipment, tools, licenses, permits, travel, and incidentals necessary to replace and legally dispose of 18 existing sectional overhead doors and motor operators, as well as one rolling (coiling) steel overhead door and motor operator. This includes all hardware, accessories, and components required for a complete installation that is securely fastened and weathertight.
Specific tasks include:
1. Removal of existing service doors and associated hardware.
2. Site preparation for new installations.
3. Installation of six new sectional overhead roll-up doors and one steel overhead rolling door at Salinas Maintenance Station.
4. Installation of three new sectional overhead doors at King City Maintenance Station.
5. Installation of nine new sectional overhead doors at Cambria Maintenance Station.
6. Compliance with California Building Code (CBC) and manufacturer installation requirements throughout the project.
Period of Performance
The contract is expected to commence on June 1, 2026, or upon approval by Caltrans, whichever is later. The contract will expire on May 31, 2027.
Place of Performance
The work will be performed at three locations:
- Salinas Maintenance Station (850 Elvee Drive, Salinas, CA 93901)
- King City Maintenance Station (850 South First Street, King City, CA 93930)
- Cambria Maintenance Station (3130 Highway 46, Cambria, CA 93428).
Bidder Requirements
Bidders must possess a valid C-61 Limited Specialty Classification license and a Class D-28 Doors, Gates and Activating Devices license issued by the California Contractors State License Board (CSLB). Bidders must also have a current registration with the Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) and be certified as a small business or disabled veteran business enterprise registered with the California Department of General Services (DGS). Additionally, bidders must comply with prevailing wage laws if the total bid exceeds $15,000.
