Background
The Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) is seeking proposals for Data Engineering Services to support its enterprise data and analytics team. The goal of this contract is to enhance the delivery of valuable data across all areas within the organization over a term of 36 months. This initiative is part of SMUD's commitment to environmental stewardship and economic development, supported by American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funding.
Work Details
The selected vendor will provide comprehensive Data Engineering Services, which include but are not limited to:
- Issue resolution and ticket handling
- System performance monitoring and tuning
- Daily health checks and system log reviews
- Recommendations for new system capabilities
- Data orchestration
- ETL and pipeline development
- Data modeling
- Integration troubleshooting
- Technical documentation creation
- Security management for data objects
- Requirements analysis
- Process flow design
- Code optimization and cleanup
- Unit testing and integration testing
- Facilitating Unity Catalog setup
- Automation processes
- Operational support for ETL performance management
- New data model development
- Machine learning model deployment and monitoring operations.
The services will be performed in support of SMUD's Databricks architecture.
Period of Performance
The contract will be executed over a period of approximately three (3) years.
Place of Performance
Services will be performed at locations specified by SMUD within its operational territory.
Bidder Requirements
Proposers must meet specific qualifications including: having a minimum of 3 years experience in delivering data solutions using Azure Databricks; holding current Databricks certification for all proposed technical consultants; having experience with at least two core systems such as SAP IS-U or electric metering infrastructure; passing a mandatory cybersecurity review; and being based in the U.S. Additionally, vendors must comply with SMUD's Supplier Education & Economic Development (SEED) Program requirements.
