Description

The City of Santa Clara ( City ) is soliciting proposals from qualified firms (hereinafter Proposer ) to provide tow services. The City of Santa Clara maintains a City generated vehicle towing program. Currently, there are two tow companies under contract, Unique Towing and Lima Towing, that respond to service calls, tow, store, and disposition each vehicle on a rotational basis. Providers in the Program have the exclusive privilege of providing on-call services for City-initiated, public property tows. Types of tows and services include accident and vehicle violations for abandoned, inoperable and illegal store vehicles in the public right-of-way, clearing debris resulting from collisions on City streets, conduct vehicle lien sales and disposal services, transport vehicles that are evidence in a crime to the Police Department, and provide other related services. The services meet the public safety and general welfare needs of the City, the Santa Clara Police Department, and the public. Proposers must enter a "1" or "0" where indicated on the Line item. This is for administrative purposes only so that the City can track the respondents more easily.

Work Details
The selected contractor will provide the following services:

1. Towing of vehicles initiated by the City for various reasons including accidents and vehicle violations.
2. Management of abandoned, inoperable, or illegally parked vehicles in public right-of-way.
3. Clearing debris from collisions on City streets.
4. Conducting vehicle lien sales and disposal services.
5. Transporting vehicles that are evidence in crimes to the Police Department.
6. Other related services as required by the City.

The contractor must maintain a primary storage yard within Santa Clara's geographical boundaries and adhere to performance criteria outlined in the RFP.

Period of Performance
The initial term of the agreement will be five years starting January 1, 2025, with an option for two additional one-year extensions.

Place of Performance
Services will be performed within the geographic boundaries of the City of Santa Clara.
