Background
The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is seeking certified Small Business (SB), Micro Business (MB), or Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise (DVBE) contractors to provide tree trimming, pruning, and removal services in Alpine, Amador, Calaveras, Mariposa, Merced, San Joaquin, Stanislaus, and Tuolumne Counties.
This contract aims to ensure the safety and maintenance of trees adjacent to energized power lines and other areas managed by Caltrans.
Work Details
Contractor shall provide all labor, tools, equipment, materials, supplies, disposal costs, traffic control, vehicles, fuel, crane/hoist, permits, travel, and any incidentals necessary for the following services:
1) Thinning, pruning, skirting of trees/shrubs/vines;
2) Removal of trees/shrubs/vines;
3) Chipping and removal/grinding of stumps adjacent to energized power lines;
4) Clean up and proper disposal of all debris generated by tree trimming operations including palm trees.
The work must comply with Caltrans' specifications and be performed under the direction of the Caltrans Contract Manager.
Period of Performance
The contract is expected to commence on April 27, 2026 (estimate) and will expire on April 26, 2029 (estimate).
Routine services shall be provided during normal business hours Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., excluding State holidays. Non-routine services may occur outside these hours as specified by Caltrans.
Place of Performance
Services will be performed at various locations within Caltrans District 10 in the counties of Alpine, Amador, Calaveras, Mariposa, Merced, San Joaquin, Stanislaus, and Tuolumne.
Bidder Requirements
Bidders must possess a valid C-61/D-49 Tree Service or C-49 Tree and Palm Contractor License issued by the California Contractors State License Board (CSLB).
Additionally:
1) A valid Arborist Certification from the International Society of Arboriculture is required;
2) Certification as a Line Clearance Tree Trimmer per OSHA regulations;
3) Crane Operator Certification from NCCCO;
4) A valid Motor Carrier Permit from DMV;
5) Registration with the Department of Industrial Relations (DIR);
6) Compliance with prevailing wage laws if bid exceeds $15,000.
Subcontractors must also meet these requirements.
