Catering Services for Senior Center Lunch Program

Background
The City of San Bruno is seeking a single catering service provider to prepare and deliver meals for the Senior Center Congregate Lunch Program. This initiative aligns with the Older Californians Nutrition Program Guidance and the California Department of Aging, aiming to support the nutritional needs of seniors in the community. The selected provider will work closely with the Senior Services Division of the City’s Community Services Department, providing essential meal services Monday through Friday at the San Bruno Senior Center.

Work Details
The catering service will include:

1) Menu Development, Review, and Approval: Caterer must submit proposed menus at least 30 days prior to service for approval by a Registered Dietician. Menus must include specific entrée, starch/side dish, vegetables, and sodium content.

2) Nutritional Guidelines: Meals must include salad or vegetable, entrée, main starch, and fruit; meeting specific nutritional requirements including vitamins A and C, fiber, and sodium limits.

3) Food Delivery: Meals must be delivered in warming or chilled boxes between 10:15 AM and 10:45 AM for lunch service starting at 12:00 PM. Daily meal counts range from 90 to 120 meals with special event lunches accommodating up to 150 participants approximately 12-15 times per year. The caterer must ensure compliance with safety and sanitation practices as per local health regulations.

Period of Performance
The contract will commence on July 1, 2025, following a tentative award date of May 13, 2025. It may be renewed annually for up to three years based on performance and funding availability.

Place of Performance
Services will be performed at the San Bruno Senior Center located at 1555 Crystal Springs Road in San Bruno, California.
