C5613252-D-Kitchen Hood, Fire Suppression, And Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning Equipment Installation And Replacement Services

Background
The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) is issuing this Invitation for Bid (IFB) for the installation and replacement of kitchen hood, fire suppression, and heating, ventilation, air conditioning equipment at the California Men’s Colony (CMC). The goal of this contract is to ensure that the facilities meet safety and operational standards through the installation of necessary systems.

Work Details
The Contractor shall install Kitchen Grease Hood Exhaust with Fire Suppression Systems, wet chemical suppression systems, vapor exhaust systems, make-up air units, and exhaust fans. The scope includes providing all labor, design, engineering, equipment, parts, devices, materials, programming, tools, installation, supervision, inspection, training, permits, licenses, insurance, bonds, transportation, travel costs, per diem and all other expenses necessary to provide services.

Specific responsibilities include:
- Providing submittal packages for all materials and designs for approval by CDCR and the Office of the State Fire Marshal (OSFM).
- Installing fire alarm devices to monitor activities of the Ansul fire suppression system.
- Programming the existing notifier fire alarm control unit for new devices.
- Conducting all testing and inspections required by OSFM.
- Ensuring compliance with project construction documents and submitting Requests for Information (RFIs) as needed.

Period of Performance
The anticipated date for commencement of services is upon issuance of the Notice to Proceed (NTP), with a total performance period of 365 days from the NTP.

Place of Performance
California Men’s Colony (CMC), Highway 1 Colony Drive, San Luis Obispo CA 93409.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must possess a valid Contractor’s license issued by the California Contractors State License Board. Acceptable licenses include:
- A 'B' General Building Contractor License and 'C-16' Fire Protection Contractor Specialty License.
- A combination of 'C-10' Electrical Contractor, 'C-16' Fire Protection Contractor and 'C-20' Warm-Air Heating Ventilating and Air Conditioning Contractor Specialty Licenses.

Additionally:
- Bidders must be registered with the Department of Industrial Relations (DIR).
- Bids must include proof of registration with DIR and a bid bond or security in an amount equal to at least 10% of the base bid. Certified Small Businesses are encouraged to participate.
