Description

Background
The Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) is seeking qualified contractors for the Gardena High School Stadium Upgrades project. This project aims to enhance the existing stadium facilities by upgrading to a natural turf field and synthetic track, aligning with the District's mission to provide quality educational environments. The goal of this contract is to improve athletic facilities for student athletes and the community, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

Work Details
The scope of work includes:

1) Temporary staff parking to be completed within 45 days after Notice to Proceed (NTP).
2) Removal and demolition of the existing ticket booth.
3) Verification of topographic survey within 90 days after NTP.
4) Installation of a new synthetic all-weather track.
5) Construction of new field event facilities for long jump, triple jump, and high jump.
6) Improvements to the existing shot-put area.
7) Installation of a new natural grass football/soccer field with irrigation and drainage systems.
8) Construction of new stadium bleachers for home side (approx. 3,600 seats) and visitor side (approx. 1,900 seats).
9) Installation of a new press box and sound system.
10) Installation of a new scoreboard, football field goal posts, fencing, and gates.
11) Site improvements including exterior painting and interior finishes for restrooms/concessions buildings on both sides, landscape enhancements, hardscape improvements, infrastructure upgrades, and ADA accessibility modifications.

Period of Performance
The anticipated start date for construction is April 2026 following a job start meeting in March 2026. Substantial completion is expected within 730 calendar days after NTP (April 2028), with final completion targeted for May 2028.

The project will be performed at Gardena High School located at 1301 W. 182nd Street Gardena, CA 90248.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must hold a B – General Building Contractor license as the prime contractor and possess any necessary specialty licenses for self-performing trades such as concrete (C-8), electrical (C-10), plumbing (C-36), etc. Contractors are required to submit prequalification questionnaires by specified deadlines to ensure timely processing. The project has established participation goals including a minimum of 25% participation by certified Small Business Enterprises (SBEs) and a minimum of 5% participation by Disabled Veteran Business Enterprises (DVBEs). Local worker participation goals are set at a minimum of 50%.
