Description

The California Department of Conservation (Department or DOC) requires the services of a business with the resources, experience, and abilities to remediate physical safety hazards associated with seven abandoned mine features in Onyx Ranch State Vehicular Recreation Area in Kern County. Please note this is a Public Works Invitation for Bid. It is anticipated that this pre-bid walkthrough will last at least six hours all seven tasks will be visited in the field. Access to the mine sites and features is over uneven, steep terrain that requires a high-clearance, four-wheel drive vehicle and some moderate hiking. A full tank of gas and food and water sufficient for a long day are recommended for this pre-bid walkthrough. The meeting location(s) for start of subsequent day(s) will be determined on the bidwalk
Background
The California Department of Conservation (DOC) is seeking a contractor to remediate physical safety hazards associated with seven abandoned mine features located in the Onyx Ranch State Vehicular Recreation Area in Kern County. Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for the fabrication, installation, and repair of remediation features at four mine sites. The specific tasks include:

1. Task #1: Install a fence around vertical opening 76509.
2. Task #2: Install an angle-iron bat gate at horizontal opening 76547.
3. Task #3: Install an angle-iron bat gate at horizontal opening 76546.
4. Task #4: Excavate and install a fence around feature 76527.
5. Task #5: Install a culvert gate at horizontal opening 76515.
6. Task #6: Install a fence around vertical opening 76517.
7. Task #7: Install a fence around vertical opening 76523.

Each task includes detailed specifications regarding materials, installation methods, and site access considerations, including the need for tortoise fencing and compliance with environmental stipulations.

Period of Performance
The contract's performance period is from January 2025 through December 31, 2025, with work expected to commence no later than thirty days after final approval.
