Background
The County of Los Angeles Fire Department is seeking services for the maintenance and testing of a Purple K Dry Chemical fire suppression system located at Fire Station 127 (F127). The system has not been serviced or hydrostatically tested since its manufacture, and it is currently empty. This necessitates the replacement of 500 lbs of Purple K and nitrogen. The goal of this contract is to ensure the fire suppression system is operational and compliant with safety standards.
Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for the following tasks:
1) Service the Purple K Dry Chem unit;
2) Hydrostatically test the 500 lb Purple K cylinder;
3) Hydrostatically test the nitrogen cylinder;
4) Test all hoses and connections;
5) Purchase and refill 500 lbs of Purple K;
6) Refill the nitrogen cylinder after hydrostatic testing.
The unit is mounted in the rear of F127, and the vendor must either transport the fire apparatus to their facility for testing or unbolt it for transport back to their shop. All services must comply with County requirements, and if equipment is used, it must be the latest model and not previously used as a demonstrator.
Period of Performance
The project must be completed within two weeks from the date the contractor takes possession of the unit.
Place of Performance
Services will be performed at Fire Station 127, located at 2049 E. 223rd St, Carson, CA 90810. The location of equipment may vary from this address and will need to be coordinated with Captain Stephen Jolley.
Bidder Requirements
Bidders must possess a current and valid license issued by the California Office of the State Fire Marshal (OSFM) to perform these services. Additionally, bidders are required to provide all labor, equipment, tools, materials, and supervision necessary for service completion. A forklift will be required for removing the unit, which must be provided or coordinated by the contractor unless otherwise directed by the County.
