24-0116 Tree Removal Services, Los Angeles County

Background
The California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) is seeking a contractor to provide tree removal services in Los Angeles County. This initiative is part of the agency's mission to manage and eradicate harmful citrus pests and diseases, particularly due to the quarantine for Asian citrus psyllid (ACP) and huanglongbing (HLB). The goal of this contract is to ensure timely removal of infected trees to prevent further spread of these diseases.

Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for the following services:

1. Maintain a C-49 or D-49 Tree Service Contractor’s license.
2. Provide a minimum of two experienced staff at each job site, with additional staff available upon request.
3. Maintain a physical presence in Los Angeles County.
4. Contact DigAlert prior to excavating.
5. Remove identified trees, stumps, and roots safely and efficiently using necessary equipment such as chainsaws, stump grinders, and chippers.
6. Transport and dispose of green waste under CDFA permit requirements.
7. Refill areas where trees are removed with fresh soil or turf as needed.
8. Ensure proper safety gear is used by crews during operations.
9. Clean work areas after tree removal.

Period of Performance
The contract will commence on May 1, 2025, or upon final approval from the Department of General Services, lasting until April 30, 2028.

Place of Performance
The services will be performed in Los Angeles County.
