Background
The County of Los Angeles is seeking bids for the Elevator Hoist Repair at the Los Angeles General Medical Center. The goal of this contract is to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the elevator system, which is critical for patient and staff mobility within the healthcare facility.
Work Details
The contractor will furnish all labor, materials, permits, and equipment necessary to replace the hoist ropes on one traction passenger elevator (State ID #37419 / Car #3), configured as a 2:1 roping system. Specific tasks include:
- Removing the elevator from service
- Cutting out failed ropes
- Securing the car and counterweight
- Installing new 5/8" diameter traction steel hoist ropes (8x19 construction or as specified by OEM)
- Attaching new ropes to existing hitch plates
- Verifying proper rope length
- Performing tensioning adjustments using a telectronic tensioning system
- Conducting load testing and safety inspections
- Coordinating with State of California DOSH Elevator Unit for final inspection
- Returning the elevator to service.
The contractor must also provide documentation including permits, material certifications, condition reports, tensioning equalization reports, load test results, and a final close-out package.
Period of Performance
The project must start within fourteen (14) calendar days after contract award and Notice to Proceed. Completion is required within four (4) weeks from the start date.
Place of Performance
All services will be performed on-site at LA General Medical Center located at 1200 N. State Street, Los Angeles, CA 90033.
Bidder Requirements
Bidders must hold a current California Contractors State License Board C-11 Elevator Contractor license in good standing. They must have experience with similar projects in occupied healthcare facilities for at least three years. All elevator mechanics must be certified by California DOSH as Certified Competent Conveyance Mechanics (CCCM). Bidders are required to carry General Liability insurance ($2M per occurrence / $4M aggregate minimum), Auto Liability, and Workers' Compensation per California requirements. Compliance with California Prevailing Wage requirements is mandatory.
