Tanner Williams Community Park Expansion

Sealed bids are being accepted by the County Commission of Mobile County, Alabama, for the Tanner Williams Community Park Expansion project. This project involves upgrades to an existing municipal park baseball field, including grading improvements, drainage enhancements, installation of a new irrigation system, new aluminum spectator bleachers, and the construction of new dugouts with concrete pads and protective fencing. Additional work includes new outfield chain-link fencing, installation of new regulation-dimension infield bases, and the addition of new foul poles at both field corners. An additive alternate is included for the complete removal and replacement of the existing backstop.

A pre-bid conference is scheduled for March 18, 2026, at 2:00 PM in the Multipurpose Room, Mobile Government Plaza, 205 Government Street, Mobile, Alabama. Attendance by a representative of all prospective bidders is required.

Bids must be submitted using the blank forms provided in the specifications. A cashier's check or a bidder's bond, payable to Mobile County, Alabama, for at least five percent (5%) of the bid amount (up to a maximum of $10,000.00), must accompany the bid as a guarantee. A performance bond and a labor and materials bond will be required upon contract signing. Contractors must also provide proof of insurance coverage as specified.

Construction documents are available for viewing at the offices of Thompson Engineering and Mobile County Environmental Services. Electronic copies can be obtained by contacting Project Engineer Brad Campbell at bcampbell@thompsonengineering.com. Physical copies require a deposit of $100.00, refundable upon return of the documents in reusable condition within ten (10) days after the bid opening.

No bids will be considered unless the bidder is properly licensed and qualified to perform the work in accordance with Alabama laws. This includes holding a current certificate to engage in general contracting in Alabama. Out-of-state contractors must provide proof of registration to conduct business in Alabama. All bidders must also be registered in www.SAM.gov to confirm suspension status.
