Fire Extinguisher Inspection Services Annual Contract

Background
The City of Fairhope, located in Baldwin County, Alabama, is seeking to establish an annual contract for fire extinguisher inspection services. The purpose of this contract is to ensure the safety and compliance of fire extinguishers in all government buildings within the city. The City aims to maintain high safety standards and adhere to regulations set forth by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and the State of Alabama Fire Code.

Work Details
The contractor will provide comprehensive fire extinguisher inspection services, which include:
- Annual inspection and tagging/labeling of all existing fire extinguishers. Inspections must occur on or immediately prior to the designated 'Inspection Date' for each extinguisher.
- All extinguishers exposed to the elements will have sticker tags.
- Completion of annual service within ten consecutive workdays, Monday through Friday, between 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., accompanied by designated City personnel.
- Replacement and installation of new fire extinguishers suitable for the type of hazard being protected.
- Six-year maintenance and hydrostatic testing as necessary.
- Inspection and testing of all fire suppression systems, including fusible links, with tagging for current year compliance.
- Recharging existing fire extinguishers as required per manufacturer’s recommendations.
- Cleaning and inspecting existing hood systems for proper operation.

All work must comply with NFPA Code, Alabama Fire Code, and City regulations. The contractor must be certified and hold a valid permit from the State of Alabama Fire Marshall.

Period of Performance
The contract is intended for one year with options for two additional one-year extensions. Services are to be performed annually within specified timeframes as outlined in the scope.

Place of Performance
Services will be performed at various government buildings throughout the City of Fairhope, Alabama.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must hold a current license from the State Licensing Board for General Contractors in Alabama. Non-resident bidders must provide evidence of qualification with the Secretary of State to conduct business in Alabama. Bidders are also required to have a current business license with the City of Fairhope prior to commencing work.
