BFO-Pipette Calibration FY26

Background
The Birmingham Field Office of the Alabama Department of Environmental Management is seeking quotes for on-site pipette calibration, repairs, and certification services for Fiscal Year 2026, which runs from October 1, 2025, to September 30, 2026. The goal of this contract is to ensure accurate results that meet quality assurance specifications in their laboratory operations.

Work Details
The contractor will provide on-site calibrations, repairs, and certification for a total of 15 pipettes from various manufacturers including Brand Tech and Eppendorf. Services include:
- Cleaning or polishing of all components.
- Gravimetric retest to ensure accuracy.
- Bi-annual site visits scheduled with the Laboratory Manager, Carla Snow.
- Issuance of a computer-generated Calibration Certificate for each pipette.
- Visual inspections for corrosion and functionality.
- Conducting gravimetric tests involving 5 draws at 3 levels to compare with manufacturer specifications.
- Affixing a sticker on passing pipettes indicating technician’s initials, date of inspection, and next calibration due date.
The specific pipettes to be serviced include various models from Brand Tech and Eppendorf as detailed in the attached list.

Period of Performance
The contract will be performed over the fiscal year from October 1, 2025, to September 30, 2026.

Place of Performance
Services will be performed at the Birmingham Field Office Laboratory located at 110 Vulcan Road, Birmingham, AL 35209.

Bidder Requirements
The servicing company must have an Eppendorf trained repair technician and utilize Sartorius balances and weights calibrated against NIST traceable standards. A six-month calibration guarantee is required (excluding cases of abuse or corrosion). Additionally, bidders must provide proof of compliance with Alabama sales tax regulations and may need to register with the Alabama Secretary of State if they are a foreign entity.
