Description

The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) is soliciting for a AMHS Gift Shop Merchandising/Marketing Consultant.

Background
The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF), specifically the Alaska Marine Highway System (AMHS), is seeking a consultant for merchandising and marketing services for the AMHS Gift Shop. The goal is to re-open legacy gift shops, implement bartender services on select vessels, and establish an online store for AMHS logo gear.

This initiative aims to enhance retail operations and support local products, particularly 'Made in Alaska' items.

Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for:
1. Designing, sourcing, and implementing a full retail plan for the onboard gift shop on the M/V Columbia/Tustumena, including display equipment and merchandise selection based on industry trends.
2. Developing a phased retail plan for high-volume AMHS terminals (Juneau, Ketchikan, Haines, Skagway, Valdez, Homer, Kodiak) with recommendations for alternative display options.
3. Creating a comprehensive marketing strategy aligned with AMHS goals and planning a 'Grand Opening' marketing event scheduled for January 2025.
4. Establishing an online AMHS Company Store for staff and customers to purchase logo gear.
5. For onboard bars, designing a 'Grand Opening' event featuring bartending services and a new menu of nautical-themed drinks along with custom drink paraphernalia.

Period of Performance
The contract will commence approximately on December 1, 2024, and will run until December 31, 2025.

Place of Performance
The work will be performed onboard the M/V Columbia and Tustumena, at various AMHS terminals in Alaska (Juneau, Ketchikan, Haines, Skagway, Valdez, Homer, Kodiak), and online.
