Sabine Parish School Board has received a grant to support the Head Start Center-Based program, which aims to promote school readiness by enhancing the social and cognitive development of low-income children, including those from federally recognized reservations and children of migratory farm workers. The grant will fund the provision of comprehensive health, educational, nutritional, social, and other services. It also emphasizes parental involvement in children's learning and helps parents progress toward their educational, literacy, and employment goals. Additionally, through Early Head Start programming, the grant supports the development of infants and toddlers by providing safe and developmentally enriching caregiving, preparing them for continued growth and success in school and life. The program is supported by a three-tier training and technical assistance system to expand staff qualifications and improve management systems and learning environments.
