Head Start and Early Head Start Program Support

State: Connecticut • Source: Federal Grant Received

Description

Office of Head Start has recently awarded a grant through Head Start that may result in future contract opportunities or awards to complete

Capitol Region Education Council has received a grant to support the Head Start and Early Head Start programs aimed at promoting school readiness by enhancing the social and cognitive development of low-income children, including those from federally recognized reservations and children of migratory farm workers. The grant will be used to provide comprehensive health, educational, nutritional, social, and other services, while actively involving parents in their children's learning and in the administration of local Head Start programs. Additionally, the grant supports Early Head Start programming which focuses on the development of infants and toddlers, enabling parents to fulfill their roles and move toward self-sufficiency. The programs promote physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development through safe and developmentally enriching caregiving, preparing children for continued growth and success in school and life. To achieve these goals, the grant also supports a three-tier training and technical assistance system at national, regional, and local levels to expand staff qualifications and improve management systems and learning environments.
