The Department of Education has awarded a grant under the Indian Education Formula Grants to Local Educational Agencies (LEAs) program. This grant aims to address the unique educational and culturally related academic needs of Indian students, enabling them to meet challenging state performance standards. The program also focuses on ensuring that Indian students gain knowledge and understanding of Native communities, languages, Tribal histories, traditions, and cultures. Additionally, it supports teachers, principals, school leaders, and other staff serving Indian students to provide culturally appropriate and effective instruction. This program serves as the Department's principal vehicle for addressing the particular needs of Indian children.
