Historic Preservation Fund Grants-in-Aid for African American Civil Rights Sites

Little Rock School District has received a grant to rehabilitate the windows and exterior elements of Central High School. This grant is part of the Historic Preservation Fund Grants-in-Aid program, which assists in the identification, evaluation, and protection of historic properties through education, survey, planning, technical assistance, preservation, documentation, and financial incentives such as grants and tax credits. Specifically, the African American Civil Rights (AACR) competitive physical preservation grant program supports documenting and preserving sites and stories related to the African American struggle for equal rights. Projects under this program focus on historic sites listed in or eligible for listing in the National Register and include architectural services, historic structure reports, preservation plans, and physical preservation work to structures. Beneficiaries include states, tribes, local governments, and nonprofit organizations.
