Weldin Construction LLC of North Las Vegas, Nevada, has received an Air Force contract worth up to $185 million for Simplified Acquisition of Base Engineering Requirements (SABER) work at Nellis Air Force Base, Creech Air Force Base and the Nevada Test and Training Range. The indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract gives the Air Force a way to order design, construction and repair projects as needs arise, rather than defining all projects at award. The competition was set aside for HUBZone firms, and work is expected to be completed by Sept. 29, 2031. The Weldin Construction awardee profile is available on HigherGov.
SABER Contract Details
Weldin will carry out projects through individual task orders covering existing buildings and infrastructure as well as new construction. The SABER statement of work calls for design and construction across multiple trades, including renovations, mechanical and electrical work, heating and air conditioning, painting, demolition, asbestos remediation, paving and earthwork. The contractor will provide the labor, materials, equipment, transportation and supervision required for each assigned project.
The solicitation also identifies road and roof repairs, plumbing, fencing, fire protection, concrete and masonry among the work the Air Force may order. Weldin must have its own design capability or access to designers for projects that alter or repair existing facilities. Individual task orders are estimated to range from $15,000 to $4 million, with each project governed by its own specifications and drawings.
The work area extends beyond the two main bases to Range 63 and Point Bravo. For completed projects, the statement of work addresses final as-built drawings that record changes made during construction, along with closeout materials such as operating and maintenance manuals and BUILDER facility data. Those records give the Air Force documentation of what was installed or changed under each applicable task order.
Award and Contractor Background
The Air Force awarded the contract on Sept. 30, 2026, after receiving six offers. It obligated about $2.1 million at award—an initial amount distinct from the contract’s $185 million ceiling. The 99th Contracting Squadron at Nellis is the contracting activity.
The new award follows an earlier Nellis-area SABER contract awarded to West Coast JV in April 2021. That Defense Department announcement described a contract worth up to $95 million for maintenance, repair and minor construction at Nellis, Creech and the Nevada Test and Training Range, with an expected completion date in April 2026. The new contract has a higher ceiling while retaining the same broad, task-order approach to base construction work.
This award was disclosed by the DoW in its daily press release. Additional contract details will be available on HigherGov in approximately 90 days under FA486126D0008 after the contract is formally disclosed by the government.
