Versar Inc. of Washington, D.C., has won an $80 million firm-fixed-price, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Middle East District for Task Force Safety Assessments of Fire and Electricity and Unified Facilities Criteria assessments. The work covers electrical hazard inspections and repairs, along with evaluations of the safety and habitability of U.S. military and coalition-occupied facilities across the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility. Work locations will be determined under individual orders, and the Corps estimates completion by April 29, 2032.
TF SAFE/UFC Details
Under the contract performance work statement, Versar will inspect and test electrical distribution systems operating below 1,000 volts and make immediate repairs when it finds imminent life, health or safety hazards. The work extends through commercial and tactical power systems in temporary and permanent facilities, including distribution boards, transformers, switches and building wiring. Versar will document inspections and repairs, submit work orders for other deficiencies, track their progress and conduct sample re-inspections.
Versar will also evaluate facilities against Unified Facilities Criteria for safety and habitability. That work includes assessments by personnel with structural, fire-protection, mechanical, electrical and environmental expertise; reports and briefings for installation leaders; and reviews of plans for troop construction, modernization and rehabilitation projects. The contract calls for assessments and code-compliance reviews, rather than facility design.
A proposed initial task order describes recurring inspections at Army Central Command facilities in Kuwait, Jordan and Saudi Arabia, including Camp Arifjan, Camp Buehring and sites around Yanbu. It calls for three independently operating, two-person electrical teams and an office and electrical-materials storage yard at Camp Arifjan to support teams working across the region. The proposed work statement anticipates that about 70% of the systems inspected will follow British electrical standards and 30% will follow the U.S. National Electrical Code; it calls for inspection services to begin within 60 days of task-order award.
Task Force SAFE Background
Task Force SAFE is a longstanding military facilities-safety effort. According to the Corps’ account of the program, it was activated in August 2008 after a rise in fatal incidents in Iraq and has continued to focus on electrical inspections and hazard mitigation. The Corps transferred responsibility for the task force from its Huntsville Engineering and Support Center to the Middle East District in 2026. The new award places CENTCOM-wide inspection and assessment work with that district.
Award and Contractor Background
The Corps received three bids for the single-award competition. Versar also received a $31.8 million contract in December 2024 for Task Force SAFE fire and electrical safety work in the CENTCOM region, with performance scheduled through July 2027. That earlier effort covered inspections, testing, repairs, reports and briefings to base commanders—activities that overlap with the newly awarded contract’s scope.
This award was disclosed by the DoW in its daily press release. Additional contract details will be available on HigherGov in approximately 90 days under W912ER27DA001 after the contract is formally disclosed by the government.
