Trident Maritime Systems Wins $21 Million Navy Hull and Deck Machinery Support Contract

Trident Maritime Systems has received a $21.2 million Navy contract to supply equipment and provide level-of-effort services in support of hull and deck machinery systems aboard Navy ships. The Naval Surface Warfare Center Philadelphia Division awarded the contract, which uses both cost-plus-fixed-fee and firm-fixed-price terms. Work is expected to be completed by September 2031. The Navy plans to perform most of the work at Trident’s Kingsford, Michigan, facility, with the remainder at government locations in the United States and overseas.

Hull and Deck Machinery Support Details

Trident will provide supplies and technical labor for shipboard hull and deck machinery under orders issued during the contract’s performance period. The award notice describes support across Navy ships rather than naming particular vessels or equipment to be delivered. According to a Navy description of Philadelphia Division capabilities, the division’s broader hull and deck machinery responsibilities cover equipment such as cranes, elevators, davits, anchoring and mooring gear, steering systems and hydraulics.

The Navy estimates that 80% of the contract work will take place in Kingsford. The other 20% is expected at government locations including Norfolk, Virginia; San Diego, California; Mayport, Florida; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Pearl Harbor, Hawaii; and sites in Japan, Singapore and Guam. That distribution places most work at the contractor’s facility while allowing for support at fleet locations.

Award and Contractor Background

The Navy awarded the contract without full-and-open competition under a limited-sources justification. It obligated $438,146 at award; additional funding will be made available as orders are placed. The $21.2 million figure is the contract’s potential value, not an amount committed at award.

Trident also holds a separate $4.8 million Military Sealift Command crane order with an expected performance end in October 2026. Another Military Sealift Command contract, valued at up to $22.6 million, covers cargo-refrigeration operator-station upgrades and commissioning aboard multiple T-AKE-class ships, with performance expected to end in December 2026. Those awards illustrate Trident’s other shipboard equipment work, though the Navy notice does not link them to the new hull and deck machinery contract.
