Contract Award Defense Technology

Rocket Lab, a provider of space launch services and advanced satellite technology, announced it has been awarded a contract by the Space Development Agency (SDA) to design and build 18 Tranche 2 Transport Layer-Beta Data Transport Satellites (T2TL - Beta).

The SDA's two-year "tranches" procurement approach is designed to establish a proliferated constellation in Low Earth Orbit (LEO). The T2TL – Beta satellites will be integrated into SDA’s Transport Layer. These satellites are expected to provide assured, resilient, low-latency military data and connectivity worldwide to meet DoD needs.

Peter Beck, Rocket Lab founder and CEO expressed his excitement saying, “This contract marks the beginning of Rocket Lab’s new era as a satellite prime." He further added that they have methodically executed their strategy of developing advanced technology, manufacturing facilities, experienced teams, and establishing a robust spacecraft supply chain. All these measures are now enabling them to deliver enhanced capability for both government and commercial customers alike."

Contracts will become available on HigherGov within 30 to 90 days once the contract is formally awarded by the government.
