The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District, announced it has awarded a contract for flood control work as part of the Comite River Diversion Project to Red Bison Services. The contract is valued at $20.1 million and will be carried out over approximately three years in East Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana. This award is a firm-fixed-price contract.

Work to be Completed Under Comite River Diversion Channel Reach 3 Contract

The contract covers significant flood control efforts as part of the Comite River Diversion Project in East Baton Rouge Parish. The project aims to mitigate flooding risks in the region by diverting excess water from the Comite River, thereby protecting local communities and infrastructure.

According to the original solicitation, Red Bison Services will be responsible for construction activities associated with REACH 3 of the diversion channel. The scope includes excavation, channel shaping, and installation of necessary flood control structures.

The Comite River Diversion Project is a long-standing initiative designed to address chronic flooding issues in East Baton Rouge Parish and surrounding areas. Once completed, the diversion channel is expected to significantly reduce flood risk during major storm events by redirecting water away from vulnerable neighborhoods.
