Raytheon Wins $50 Million Navy Next Generation Jammer–Mid-Band (NGJ-MB) Repair Order

Raytheon Company has received a Navy delivery order worth up to $50.1 million to repair components of the Next Generation Jammer–Mid-Band (NGJ-MB) system used on the EA-18G Growler. The order covers 98 repairs across 19 weapon-repairable assemblies. Naval Supply Systems Command Weapon Systems Support awarded the work, which is expected to be completed by March 2030.

Next Generation Jammer–Mid-Band Repair Details

Raytheon will repair assemblies used in the Growler’s mid-band electronic-attack system. The order is for component sustainment rather than the purchase of new jammer pods; the award notice does not identify the individual assemblies. Of the work, 84% will take place in Forest, Mississippi, and 16% in El Segundo, California.

NGJ-MB is carried externally on the EA-18G and uses digital, software-based jamming and electronically scanned arrays to counter radar and communications systems. Repairing its assemblies supports a system that has entered fleet use while the Navy continues to field additional equipment.

Next Generation Jammer–Mid-Band Background

NGJ-MB is one part of the Navy’s broader Next Generation Jammer program, which is intended to augment and eventually replace the Growler’s legacy ALQ-99 jamming system. The Navy reported its first NGJ-MB deployment and tactical employment in 2024 and declared initial operational capability that December. The ALQ-99 remains in service as the newer jammer is fielded.

The Navy’s fiscal 2026 aircraft procurement request sought $439.5 million for NGJ-MB, including a planned 10 shipsets—two pods per shipset—as well as support equipment, logistics and contractor fleet support. It also described work to sustain Navy depot- and intermediate-level repair capability, placing component repair within the program’s broader fielding and support requirements.

Award and Contractor Background

The Navy solicited one source for the sole-source requirement and received one offer. The delivery order was placed under a previously awarded basic ordering agreement.

Raytheon has received other NGJ-MB repair orders, including a $34.9 million order to repair system components with performance scheduled through February 2029 and a $32 million repair-support order scheduled through February 2027. The company’s role in the program extends back to a $279.4 million technology-development award announced in 2013.
